Sea ports crowding and high freight will last to 2022

Covid-19 broke out by end of JAN.2021, it disordered our routines, either on daily life or work. We have to wear masks when taking public transportation, we have to hold meetings on-line, we can’t travel overseas freely as before. It affected our ways on living and working. On work, except material costs increased, ocean freight are also affected. Many lines have increased to its historical high level, reaches 20000USD per container. Also, crowding in sea ports all over the world becomes a normal condition after covid-19.

Port congestion has extended to the whole world, more and more container vessels are waiting for berths. There is a map, issued by platform of container transportation(Seapexplorer) by the logistic giant-KUEHNT+NAGEL, which shows harbors in the world are bearing ultrahigh pressures now. By 15:20, 21st. JUL, there are 328 container ships are bedetained in harbors, and 116 harbors were reported crowding.

Another data on SEAPEXPLORER showed that 101 harbors were crowded and more than 304 container ships were affected, and the crowding will intensify. With crowding problem in harbors, more than 10% shipping capacity were consumed.

Coming into the 2nd half year, traditionally, it’s a peak time of shipments for Christmas seasons and new year, with the covid-19 rebound imbalance, importers are prefer to get more than more goods in stock. Under the strong demands of purchasing, and present crowding situation on harbors, it can be predicted that crowding and high ocean freight will last to 2022.
