Basic Information of Masking Tape
Masking tape is a roll of adhesive tape made of masking paper and pressure-sensitive adhesive as the main raw materials. The pressure-sensitive adhesive is coated on the masking paper, and the other side is coated with anti-sticking material. It has the characteristics of high temperature resistance, good resistance to chemical solvents, high adhesion, soft and compliant, and no residual adhesive left after tearing. The industry generally calls it masking pressure-sensitive adhesive tape.
Classification of masking tape
- According to different temperatures, it can be divided into:
normal temperature masking tape, medium temperature masking tape and high temperature masking tape.
- According to the different viscosity, it can be divided into:
low viscosity masking tape, medium viscosity masking tape and high viscosity masking tape.
- According to different colors, it can be divided into:
natural color masking paper, color masking paper, etc.
Characteristics of masking tape
- Masking tape is made of a special curing glue that provides stickiness. The glue has excellent solvent and high temperature resistance, and will not leave any marks on the surface of objects after use.
- Although the texture of the masking tape is relatively hard, we can bend the tape at will during use without it breaking.
- It is convenient for us to use. When we leave enough length of tape, we don’t need to use scissors or blades. We can just tear it off with our hands.
- Fast bonding speed. When we use masking tape, we pull the tape apart and flatten it. We will find that the inner side of the tape is not sticky at all, but it will stick to the object as soon as it touches it. This avoids damage to our hands during the construction process.
Uses of masking tape
- 1. It can be used for indoor and outdoor decoration
At present, many decoration sites need to use masking tape to join the edges of various doors, cabinets and windows when decorating these furniture. In addition, masking tape is also needed to join the seams in the middle of the tiles.
- 2. It can be used to protect the car paint and play a shielding role
In modern life, our cars will inevitably bump into other objects in daily use, causing part of the car's surface to deform or crack. The car needs to be pulled to a car repair shop for partial wiping, painting, baking, and spraying of the exterior of the car, and masking tape is also needed for protection.
- 3. It can be used in high temperature environment to provide protection and shielding
- Such as the common use of high temperature boilers, high temperature furnace paint and so on.
How to use masking tape
The use of masking tape is very simple. When using it, just gently stick the masking tape on the part to be masked to cover it, and then tear it off directly after use.
Precautions for using masking tape
- 1. Keep adhered object be dry and clean, otherwise it will affect the bonding effect of the tape.
- 2. Apply a certain force to ensure a good bond between the masking tape and the adhered object.
- 3. Plesase do not use masking tapes in random combinations. Because each type of masking tape has different characteristics, many unpredictable faults may occur after mixed use.
- 4. The same tape will show different results in different environments and on different adhesive objects. Therefore, if you need to use it in large quantities, please try it before use.
- 5. After use, the masking tape should be peeled off as soon as possible to avoid residual glue.
