Things To Note When Selecting Adhesives
Storage period
1. Each product has a storage period. According to international and domestic standards, the storage period refers to the storage period at room temperature (24°C). For acrylic adhesives, it is 20°C.
2. For acrylic products, the higher the temperature, the shorter the storage period.
3. For water-based products, if the temperature is below -1°C, it will directly affect the product quality.
Strength
- 1. It is best to choose special adhesives for different adherends .
- 2. Durability should be considered more than initial bonding strength.
- 3. The performance of high-temperature curing adhesives is much higher than that of room-temperature curing adhesives. If high strength and good durability are required, high-temperature curing adhesives should be selected.
- 4. Cyanoacrylate glue (502 super glue) should not be used for materials requiring high bonding strength except for emergency or small area repairs and continuous production.
Others
- 1. White latex and urea-formaldehyde glue cannot be used to bond metal.
- 2. If transparent adhesive is required, polyurethane adhesive, optical epoxy adhesive, saturated polyester adhesive, and polyvinyl acetal adhesive can be used.
- 3. The adhesive should not be corrosive to the adherend. For example, solvent-based chloroprene adhesive cannot be used on polystyrene foam boards.
- 4. Adhesives with high brittleness are not suitable for sticking soft materials.
Precautions when using AB glue
- 1. For adhesives of component AB, please mix according to the requirements of the instructions.
- 2. For the adhesive of component AB, it must be fully stirred before use. No dead corners can be left, otherwise it will not solidify.
- 3. The adherend must be clean and free of moisture (except for underwater curing adhesive).
- 4. To achieve high bonding strength, polish the adherend as much as possible.
- 5. The quality of the bonded joint design determines the bond strength.
- 6. When using the adhesive, be sure to prepare it and use it immediately. Do not leave it for too long. If it is fast curing, it should generally not exceed 2 minutes.
- 7. If you want high strength and fast curing, you can heat it depending on the situation. When applying glue, it should not be too thick. Generally, 0.5mm is good. The thicker the glue, the worse the bonding effect.
- 8. When bonding objects, it is best to apply pressure or fix them with clamps.
- 9. To achieve higher strength, it is best to leave it for 24 hours after bonding.
- 10. For single-component solvent-based or water-based formulations, be sure to stir evenly when using.
- 11. For solvent-based products, after applying the glue, be sure to let it cool until it is no longer sticky before bonding.
