Introduction of Structural Adhesive and Weather-Resistant Adhesive

What is structural adhesive

Structural adhesive is a kind of adhesive with high strength (compression strength>65MPa, steel-steel tensile bonding strength>30MPa, shear strength>18MPa), can withstand large loads, and is resistant to aging, fatigue, and corrosion. It has stable performance within the expected service life and is suitable for bonding structural parts that bear strong forces.

The use of structural adhesives and the difference between structural adhesives and weathering adhesives

Advantages of structural adhesives

  1. 1. Easy to use: can be squeezed out and used at any time.
  2. 2. Neutral curing: Applicable to most building materials without adverse reactions or corrosion.
  3. 3. Excellent adhesion: No primer is required and it can form strong adhesion with most building materials.
  4. 4. Excellent aging resistance and stability.
  5. 5. After curing, it has high modulus performance and can bear the expansion and contraction displacement capacity of the interface of ±25%.

Curing time of structural adhesive

It can be put into use after curing at 20-25℃ for 24 hours or at 20-25℃ for 2 hours + 80℃ for 2 hours. If the temperature is low, heating or extending the curing time should be used to promote curing.

Uses of structural adhesives

Structural adhesives offer high strength, peel resistance, impact resistance, and simple construction. They are used for bonding homogeneous or dissimilar materials, such as metals, ceramics, plastics, rubber, and wood. They can partially replace traditional connection methods like welding, riveting, and bolting. They provide uniform stress distribution across the bonded surface, eliminating thermal stress and deformation.

Structural adhesives are widely used in engineering, mainly for the reinforcement, anchoring, bonding, and repair of components; such as bonding steel and carbon fiber, planting rebar, crack reinforcement and sealing, hole repair, spike pasting, surface protection, concrete bonding, etc.

What is weather resistant glue

Weathering Adhesive is a single-component, neutral-curing silicone sealant designed specifically for weatherproof sealing of various curtain walls. It exhibits excellent weather resistance, and accelerated weathering tests have shown no significant changes in its physical and chemical properties. During use, use a caulking gun to squeeze the sealant from the cartridge into the joint to be sealed. At room temperature, the sealant absorbs moisture from the air and cures into an elastomer, forming an effective seal.

Advantages of weather-resistant adhesive

  1. 1. Single component, easy to use, has good extrudability and thixotropy in the temperature range of 4℃~+40℃, and can be directly applied by squeezing with a glue gun;
  2. 2. Neutral curing, non-corrosive to metal, coated glass, concrete, marble, granite and other building materials, widely used;
  3. 3. The displacement capacity reaches level 20. For the normal expansion and contraction and shear deformation of the curtain wall, this product can maintain the same performance and play an effective sealing role.
  4. 4. Excellent weather resistance, aging resistance, UV resistance, ozone resistance, and water resistance;
  5. 5. Excellent resistance to high and low temperatures. After curing, it will not become brittle, harden or crack at a low temperature of -30°C, and will not soften or degrade at a high temperature of +90°C, and will always maintain good elasticity;
  6. 6. It has excellent adhesion and forms a strong bond with most building materials after curing without the need for primer;
  7. 7. Good compatibility with other neutral silicone adhesives.

Uses of weather-resistant adhesive

  1. 1. Used for weather-resistant sealing of various glass curtain walls;
  2. 2. Used for weather-resistant sealing of metal (aluminum plate) and enamel curtain wall;
  3. 3. Used for sealing joints of concrete, metal, etc.;
  4. 4. Sealing of roof construction joints.
