Advantages of Solvent-Free Adhesives
- Environmental protection
Solvent-free lamination uses solvent-free adhesives, which neither volatilize VOCs nor produce any irritating odors. At the same time, it solves the problem of solvent residues in packaging, eliminates the erosion of printing inks by organic solvents, and can also achieve clean production, which is beneficial to environmental protection.
- Energy saving
Solvent-free composite equipment does not require a drying tunnel, which reduces energy consumption. In addition, in the later curing process, the curing temperature of solvent-free composite is basically the same as that of dry composite, so the energy consumption is also relatively close.
- Security
Since solvent-free adhesives do not contain organic solvents, there are no hidden dangers of fire or explosion during production, transportation, storage and use. There is no need for explosion-proof and warming measures, nor is there a need for warehouses specifically for storing solvents. More importantly, there is no harm to the health of operators.
- Efficient
The lamination speed of solvent-free adhesive is generally 250-350 m/min, and can even reach 400-500 m/min; the lamination speed of solvent-based adhesive is generally 150-180 m/min; the lamination speed of water-based adhesive is even lower.
- Low cost
If the annual usage of solvent-free adhesive is 20,000 tons, the usage of solvent-based adhesive is 20,000÷1.5×2.5 = 33,333 tons (1.5g/m2 is the average amount of adhesive applied to solvent-free adhesive, and 2.5g/m2 is the average amount of adhesive applied to solvent-based adhesive). It can be seen that the use of solvent-free composite technology can greatly reduce the amount of adhesive used. In addition, the coating cost per unit area of solvent-free adhesive will be less than solvent-based adhesive.
